Behind his careless manner of behavior and his ever-present hat hides one of the most brilliant minds in the entire history of the Soul Society: a former captain of the 12th Division of the Gotei 13 and the founder of the Shinigami Research and Development Institute. Exiled from Seireitei on false charges, he lost neither his thirst for knowledge nor his desire to protect the balance of the worlds. Urahara often acts from the shadows, steering events and people in the right direction, while rarely revealing all his cards. He is considered a genius whose intellect surpasses even the knowledge of Sosuke Aizen, and it was he who played a decisive role in the creation of the Hogyoku, and then in the victory over Aizen.
