Tousen Kaname

Tousen Kaname was the former captain of the 9th Division of the Gotei 13, who betrayed the Soul Society by siding with Sosuke Aizen and Gin Ichimaru. Blind from birth, he devoted his life to serving justice, understanding it as the path of least bloodshed. However, his faith in ideals turned into tragedy: driven by a thirst for revenge for the death of a loved one, he became obsessed with the idea of retribution and eventually turned into a hybrid of a Hollow and a Shinigami, losing his humanity. His story is a path from a noble but naive idealist to a being blinded by his own power, who died at the hands of his own student and friend. Tousen embodies the danger of fanatical faith in abstract justice when it ceases to differ from cruelty.
