Shunsui Kyoraku

Shunsui Kyoraku is the captain of the First Division and the captain-commander of the Gotei 13, having assumed this post after the death of Genryusai Yamamoto. Previously, he long led the Eighth Division. Shunsui comes from the noble Kyoraku family, but is distinguished by a relaxed and cheerful disposition. His zanpakuto, Katen Kyokotsu, is unique: in its shikai form it turns children's games into reality, while its bankai stages a tragic play that condemns the opponent to death. Shunsui is one of the oldest and strongest Shinigami, a personal student of Yamamoto, known for his wisdom and unconventional approach to battle. He does not like violence, preferring to resolve conflicts with words, but at a critical moment he acts decisively and without hesitation.
