Sasakibe Chōjirō - a Shinigami who held the position of lieutenant of the First Division of the Gotei 13 under the command of Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni. He remained at this post since the very founding of the Gotei 13. Sasakibe was infinitely devoted to his captain and swore to serve him for as long as Yamamoto would live. Despite the fact that he mastered Bankai and possessed spiritual power at the captain level, Sasakibe consciously remained a lieutenant and did not take part in battles, not using Bankai in front of others. He was considered weak, but that was a mistake. Sasakibe was an experienced master of Kidō and Shunpo, and his Bankai Kōkō Gonryō Rikyū controlled lightning and was capable of influencing the weather. He had a weakness for Western culture, which he adopted during missions in the world of the living: he grew tea leaves himself, preferred Western cuisine, and even sewed himself a Western-style jinbaori. Sasakibe died during the second invasion of the Wandenreich, pierced by an arrow from Driscoll Berci, who stole his Bankai with the help of a medallion. His death was a heavy blow for Yamamoto.
