Kurosaki Masaki

Kurosaki Masaki was a pure-blooded Quincy, the last representative of her lineage. She was the wife of Kurosaki Isshin and the mother of Ichigo, Karin, and Yuzu. Masaki grew up in the Ishida family, where she was prepared for marriage to Ishida Ryuken in order to preserve the purity of Quincy blood. She possessed exceptional spiritual power and masterfully wielded a bow. Her views on life differed from the strict traditions of the Ishida family: Masaki believed that the most important thing was to act here and now, rather than follow customs if doing so could lead to someone's death. She saved Kurosaki Isshin while fighting a Hollow and tied her life to his. After losing her Quincy powers, Masaki became an ordinary woman, a loving mother, and the keeper of the home. She died protecting Ichigo from the Great Fisher. Her death became a central event in the life of the Kurosaki family and largely determined Ichigo's path. The family visits her grave every year, and her memory is preserved in the Kurosaki home.
