Hyosube Ichibei is a Shinigami who leads the Zero Division, also known as the Royal Guard. He bears the title "Monk Who Calls the True Name". As the head of the Royal Guard, he is considered the de facto leader of all Shinigami, and his authority is second only to the Soul King himself. The Wandenreich recognized him as one of the Special War Powers of the Soul Society. His Zanpakuto bears the name Ichimonji. He was born on January 1. His age exceeds two thousand years, and his height is 181 cm.

Ay-yay-yay! You take the kindness of those around you for granted, young man! I deliberately took half your strength to save your honor. If I crush you at full power, your reputation among the Quincy will be destroyed. Though either way, when you die, your reputation won't be worth a penny!
