Abarai Renji is a lieutenant of the Sixth Division of the Gotei 13, serving under Captain Kuchiki Byakuya. He was born and raised in the harsh 78th District of Rukongai, Inuzuri, where he met Kuchiki Rukia, his future wife, and swore to become strong enough to protect her and someday surpass his own captain. Renji went from being a street orphan to a Gotei officer, moving through several divisions: the Fifth, the Eleventh, and finally the Sixth. His zanpakutō, Zabimaru, is known for its unpredictability in its shikai form - a segmented whip-like blade, while his true bankai, Soo Zabimaru, grants him immense destructive power. After training under the Royal Guard, Renji became significantly stronger, learning to stand up even against the Sternritter. He is known for his hot-tempered yet loyal nature, and his tattoos, covering almost his entire body, serve as a reminder of his origins. Renji is one of the few who fought side by side with Kurosaki Ichigo from the very beginning, and their relationship, which started with enmity, grew into a strong friendship. After the Thousand-Year War, he married Rukia, and they had a daughter, Ichika.
